Asphalt Sealing is a vital component of a pavement maintenance plan. Asphalt sealing material is made from coal asphalt cement (or coal tar pitch) and a mix of inert fillers, water, emulsifying agents, or additives. The sealant is used to protect asphalt surfaces from chemicals, gasoline, salt, water and UV rays.

Cosmetic benefits

When covered new sealant, pavement looks and wears like new. Asohalt Sealing a parking lot helps to project a positive image of the company, facility, or residential complex.

Preservation benefits

Asphalt Sealing fills surface voids. This reduces exposure anything which might affect the structural integrity of the asphalt (chemicals used in pressure washing, gasoline, oil, brake-fluid even oxygen and Ultra-Violet rays)

Asphalt Sealing acts as a waterproofing agent, minimizing the rate at which water enters the asphalt pavement. Without it, water can permeate more freely resulting in freeze/thaw expansion.

Resists oil and gas spills

Gasoline dripping from a topped-off fuel tank during hot weather can soften and break down unsealed asphalt pavements. The various types of Asphalt Sealing are proof ageinst gas and oil spills.

Easier to clean and maintain

Asphalt Sealing fills surface voids. The resulting smooth and even texture makes the surface easier to maintain year-round. For example, snow is easier to remove from a smooth surface, and sweeping is far more effective on a smooth surface.

Increases pavement flexibility

Asphalt Sealing is always dark. The darker a material, the more heat it absorbs and radiates. Warm asphalt is more pliable, which helps it to withstand traffic without cracking.

Protects asphalt from pressure washing

Restaurant parking lots often extend to areas near dumpsters, where food-processing machines are pressure washed. Food waste near the dumpsters may also need to be washed away if it can't be swept away. Asphalt sealing protects asphalt cement from the high-volume water pressure and chemicals used in pressure washing.

This year we at London Paving have decided to give back to the community that has helped us become to who we are today, and we can't think of a better place to start then with the Breast Cancer Society. This year we will make a donation from each project to help offset the strong financial burden on patients battling this disease. Join the fight, together we can make a difference.
